Profile Information

About Me:
Jerry Boriboun is a Lead Worshipper at First Baptist Russellville, Arkansas. He has been playing guitar over 2 years. He has been called to ministry in 2004 to help in the music ministry and youth ministry.

"I never thought everything could change in an instant
Before my very eyes, I saw Your peace..."

It all began when someone took a step outside his comfort zone to tell him that Jesus loves him. Jerry started out just as a normal teenager looking for something in life. But to find a calling into ministry was a path different from where he started.

Jerry started to get involve in church around the 8th grade 2003 by a teacher who asked him to go to church with him. After a few weeks, he started to think where in the he will be in the next couple of years. He stop going to church in the summer time and came back around September of 2003. He met a new youth pastor, Mark Palfreeman, who started to share a message that changed his life. He begins the story of how people reject Jesus and never actually giving Jesus a try. On Sept 7, 2003, Jerry gave Jesus a try and his life changed for the best.

Jerry was very involved in the youth ministry and mission trips that occurred throughout his growth. During this time, he began to be discipled by Jay Ham into understanding what a follower of Christ is like.

Missions He Has Been Involved With:
San Antonio, TX
New Orleans, LA
Marked Tree, AR
Picayune, MS
Madison, OH
Juarez, Mexico

What influence you to become a "Lead Worshipper"?
Well, I got a guitar on my 14th birthday and never knew how to play the guitar. So I started playing the guitar and really love playing it and just kept practicing. Eventually, Jay Ham, our youth minister, just joined the church. I asked him if I can help with the band. I didn't know the band that well but I didn't care. I saw Jay playing guitar so I started asking questions about it. He taught me some different techniques and things. After a while, the band died and no one was leading worship. For some reason I knew I had to go up and that is where I am at now.

Is it hard to play guitar?
Umm...it depends on if you are willing to practice hard on the guitar. First you have to learn the figure positions and the chords. After a bit of work, learning the strumming is a bit complicated. Especially if you plan to sing also.

What kind of music you listen to?
Mostly christian. I just like listening to different styles of christian artists.

What kind of guitar do you have?
I have 3 guitars. The first guitar I ever got was a SIGMA. The guitar was given to me by my old youth minister, Mark Palfreeman. The second guitar was given to me on my 17th birthday by youth minister, Jay Ham. The third one was given to me by my friend, Chuck Stuckey.
